Among the thousands who have traveled to Australia to pray with Pope Benedict XVI and rally for the faith are a handful of Youth Apostles. They are traveling with parish, campus and diocesan groups from Northern Virginia and will write home with tales of their pilgrimage through the rest of July. World Youth Day 2008 officially runs July 15-20, but some of the faith trekkers left July 10 for two and a half weeks of meeting young Catholics from all over the planet and learning about Catholicism Down Under. |

Teens and younger children can get more out of a papal visit than even the most devout adult. Even a quick glimpse of the Holy Father can leave an impression that lasts forever. Many Youth Apostles trekked downtown for a chance to see Pope Benedict XVI in Washington, D.C., and a few led youth pilgrimages to New York for the youth rally at the seminary in Yonkers and the Mass at Yankee Stadium. Chris Maimone brought his son to the campus of Catholic University and waited for hours for their one shot to see the Pope, and they'll never regret it. |
